THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF REMASAB HOSTS CHIEF MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF MUHAMMADU ABDULLAHI WASE TEACHING HOSPITAL TO STRENGTHEN HEALTHCARE WASTE MANAGEMENT

On 21st August 2025, the Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil hosted the Chief Medical Director of Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, Professor Hadiza Sa’idu Bala, at the REMASAB Headquarters to discuss strategies for strengthening healthcare waste management and promoting environmentally sound medical waste disposal practices.

The meeting focused on key aspects of healthcare waste management, including routine waste evacuation services, waste segregation and sorting at source, incineration processes, the safe handling and disposal of safety boxes, and other best practices aimed at ensuring the environmentally responsible management of medical waste. Both institutions emphasized the importance of effective collaboration in safeguarding public health, protecting the environment, and ensuring compliance with established waste management standards.

During the engagement, the Managing Director reaffirmed REMASAB’s commitment to providing regular and efficient healthcare waste evacuation services to the hospital and other healthcare facilities across the State. He also reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Kano State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to strengthening environmental sanitation systems and supporting sustainable waste management initiatives that contribute to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Kano State.

The meeting further reinforced the partnership between REMASAB and Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, laying the foundation for sustained collaboration in advancing safe healthcare waste management and environmental sustainability across Kano State.
