THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF REMASAB ENGAGES KUNDILA COMMUNITY ON SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS

On 21st August 2025, the Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil held a strategic meeting with representatives of the Kundila Community to discuss sustainable solutions to prevailing waste management challenges within the area. The engagement formed part of REMASAB’s commitment to promoting community-driven approaches to environmental sanitation and improving service delivery across Kano State.

The discussions focused on identifying practical and long-term solutions to enhance waste management within the community, including community-based interventions, the commercialization of waste management services to improve operational efficiency and sustainability, and the proposed relocation of the existing waste collection point to a more suitable location along the Fandaudu axis. Participants also emphasized the importance of sustained stakeholder collaboration and community participation in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

The meeting strengthened the partnership between REMASAB and the Kundila Community, facilitated consensus on practical waste management strategies, and advanced plans for the relocation of the waste collection centre to the Fandaudu axis. It also reinforced the shared commitment of both parties to improving environmental sanitation, promoting sustainable waste management practices, and safeguarding public health through coordinated community action.

The Managing Director reaffirmed REMASAB’s commitment to engaging communities as key partners in developing inclusive, efficient, and sustainable waste management solutions that contribute to a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally resilient Kano State.
