On 11th September 2025, the Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) led a special cleanup operation beneath Kofar Nassarawa Bridge as part of the Kano State Government’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a cleaner and healthier environment. The intervention was undertaken after the area had been improperly used by some residents as an unauthorized waste collection and dumping site, creating significant environmental and public health concerns.

The operation involved the deployment of REMASAB personnel and operational equipment to evacuate accumulated waste, restore environmental cleanliness, and reclaim the area from indiscriminate waste disposal. The exercise also formed part of the Board’s proactive strategy to eliminate illegal dumpsites and promote proper waste management practices across Kano State.

The intervention successfully cleared the unauthorized waste dumpsite, significantly improved environmental sanitation and public health conditions around the Kofar Nassarawa Bridge axis, and discouraged the continued use of the location as an illegal waste disposal point. It further demonstrated the Kano State Government’s determination to enforce proper environmental sanitation standards, preserve public spaces, and prevent future occurrences of indiscriminate waste disposal.

The Managing Director reaffirmed REMASAB’s commitment to sustaining targeted sanitation interventions, strengthening public awareness, and working with communities to promote responsible waste disposal practices in line with the vision of His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally sustainable Kano State.
