THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF REMASAB FEATURED ON AREWA24’S CLIMATE CHANGE AFRICA PROGRAMME

On 12th September 2025, the Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil featured as a guest on AREWA24’s Climate Change Africa programme as part of the Kano State Government’s ongoing commitment, under the leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to promote public awareness on the importance of environmental sanitation, sustainable waste management, and climate action.

During the programme, the Managing Director highlighted the achievements and ongoing initiatives of the current administration in strengthening waste management systems across Kano State. He also discussed critical issues relating to environmental sanitation, the adverse effects of improper waste disposal, and the relationship between effective waste management and climate change mitigation. Emphasis was placed on the need for sustainable waste disposal practices, community participation, and collective responsibility in addressing environmental challenges.

The media engagement provided an important platform for educating the public on responsible waste management practices, increased awareness of the environmental and public health impacts of indiscriminate waste disposal, and reinforced REMASAB’s commitment to sustained public enlightenment through strategic media partnerships. It also showcased the Kano State Government’s efforts to integrate environmental sustainability and climate resilience into its waste management agenda.

The Managing Director reaffirmed REMASAB’s commitment to continuous public engagement and environmental education as essential tools for promoting behavioural change and achieving a cleaner, healthier, and more climate-resilient Kano State.
