On 23rd September 2025, the Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) led the installation of metal waste bins across selected major streets and strategic public locations in Kano State. The initiative was implemented in line with the commitment of the Kano State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to promote a cleaner, safer, and more environmentally sustainable State through improved waste management infrastructure.
The exercise was aimed at providing residents with convenient and accessible waste disposal facilities, discouraging indiscriminate littering, and strengthening the State’s environmental sanitation system. The strategic placement of the metal bins is expected to enhance public compliance with proper waste disposal practices while supporting REMASAB’s efforts to maintain cleaner streets and public spaces.
The initiative significantly improved access to waste disposal facilities across key locations, contributed to cleaner streets and enhanced urban aesthetics, and supported ongoing efforts to reduce indiscriminate waste dumping. It also reinforced REMASAB’s commitment to promoting responsible waste management practices, protecting public health, and sustaining environmental cleanliness through the provision of essential sanitation infrastructure.
The Managing Director reaffirmed REMASAB’s commitment to expanding environmental sanitation infrastructure and implementing sustainable waste management initiatives that align with the vision of the Kano State Government to build a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient Kano State.
